Coldingham Village - History - WWII Gallery
The pictures in this Gallery have been provided by Chris Ross, now living in Canada, but with family still in the village.
Coldingham Volunteers - date unknown
This is how I left Coldingham for Canada in 1946 - on the great old boat
Inside Drone Hill (These pictures will be quite rare)
Donald & Pat Ross (nee Wilson) wedded at the priory May 1, 1943.
The photographer - David Donald Ross of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada - RCAF attached to the RAF from 1940 to 1945 at Drone Hill
This picture is part of the Chain Link Radar Station at Drone Hill. My Dad took the picture. He was stationed there. He told me if they knew he took the picture - they would have thrown him in jail for the rest of the war because it was so secret.
This is a picture of me in front of the bank window in late 1944. Mother - Pat Ross nee - Wood. Father - Don Ross - Canadian serviceman stationed at Drone Hill. I believe I still have a cousin there who is or was the school Principal.
The whole Drone Hill mob
The Wilsons of Coldingham - about 1920
At the Dials inside the station
